Naruto returns: Team 7’s reunion and an opportunity for the Card Game
Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura will share another mission in a new four-episode anime. A Kishimoto manga and PROJECT RASENGAN expand the franchise’s horizon as Bandai’s card game prepares its worldwide debut. Could this return introduce a new generation to collecting?

Some images immediately bring an era back: Naruto’s Leaf headband, Sasuke beside him, Sakura ready for a mission and Kakashi trusting his students with another task. That Team 7 will reunite in NARUTO x NINKŪ, a new four-episode anime taking the young Naruto into an unexpected adventure.
Announced at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026, the project belongs to a broader moment: a new manga drawn by Masashi Kishimoto, a multiyear roadmap and a card game planned for June 2027. For returning fans, it is a reason to revisit Konoha. For NARUTO CARD GAME, it could introduce the hobby to people who have never considered collecting cards.
A mission with Naruto leading Team 7
The official premise sends Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura on an assignment from Kakashi. Their teacher cannot accompany them, so Naruto becomes acting leader. The team then finds itself in another world and meets Fūsuke from NINKŪ.
This restores a familiar dynamic: three young teammates sharing an assignment while Naruto tries to earn their confidence. The official production page lists Junko Takeuchi as Naruto, Noriaki Sugiyama as Sasuke, Chie Nakamura as Sakura and Kazuhiko Inoue as Kakashi.
PIERROT FILMS handles animation, with Noriyuki Abe directing and Tetsuya Nishio designing the animation characters. Kishimoto and NINKŪ creator Koji Kiriyama supervise the story. An official crossover teaser is available; we have not found a confirmed current premiere date.
Why NINKŪ makes the reunion special

NINKŪ may be new to some viewers, but it sits among Naruto’s creative roots. In his published message, Kishimoto describes its influence and his wish to bring the two casts together. The collaboration comes from that relationship between creators.
NINKŪ began as a manga in 1993 and received an anime adaptation in 1995. Its own martial art and Fūsuke’s companions offer returning Naruto fans another world to discover. The VIZ announcement and creator comments explain why this meeting matters beyond the promotional image.
Kishimoto is also preparing a new manga

The panel also teased a new Naruto manga drawn by Masashi Kishimoto. Its promotional material carries the “Shadow Rising” wording, also visible in the official roadmap.
The official report describes sketches of the seventh Hokage face under construction, Naruto holding the Hokage hat, Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura with a baby. These are intriguing visual clues, while length, publication schedule and detailed story still need further information.
More details are planned for Jump Festa 2027 on December 19–20, 2026. The event’s edition name refers to 2027; the actual dates fall in December this year.
PROJECT RASENGAN puts several years on the horizon

PROJECT RASENGAN connects these announcements. The official presentation describes a global initiative across manga, anime, games, cards and other projects. Its key visual places Naruto and his Rasengan among different representations of the character.

The roadmap spans 2027–2029, showing the anime, card game, mobile game’s global launch and new manga alongside unrevealed spaces. It demonstrates franchise planning, not an individual release date for every project or a promise of continuous broadcasting.
The Card Game’s moment: familiar characters back in conversation

The connection to NARUTO CARD GAME is concrete: it appears in the same roadmap and was presented at the same event. Bandai announced the first booster, Enter: NARUTO UZUMAKI!, and Naruto, Sasuke and Gaara Starter Decks for June 2027.
A new teaser may lead a fan to revisit the anime, search for a character or share an illustration. That journey can also lead to discovering the card game. Recognising a scene or technique can connect a collector to a card; curiosity about how that character works in a match can bring a player to the table.
This possible journey from anime to cards is editorial analysis, not measured demand growth. We also do not yet know how the anime’s premiere will align with the card game launch. What is confirmed is their shared place in the franchise’s new promotional phase.
From nostalgia to a first match

Seeing Team 7 again may attract fans who watched the original broadcasts and people discovering Naruto now. Sharing that enthusiasm matters for a game that needs people to gather around a table.
Starter Decks are preconstructed entry products, while boosters expand collecting and deckbuilding options. Clear explanations and introductory sessions can help a curious visitor become a regular participant. No NINKŪ cards have been announced for the Card Game in the sources checked: an anime crossover does not establish a matching card collaboration. Nor does renewed visibility establish sales, scarcity or price rises.
What to follow next
The anime has four confirmed episodes and an original story with young Naruto. It is not an announcement of a long weekly season or a complete remake. The manga has a teaser and a forthcoming information event; its publication details remain incomplete.
For fans starting to explore cards, the appealing thread is reconnecting with characters, discovering new stories and seeing how the Card Game turns that enthusiasm into a shared activity. Team 7’s return may open that door. Sustained participation will also depend on the game’s quality, availability and community.
Our first booster report and Starter Deck introduction cover the products already announced for this active new period.
