The first NARUTO CARD GAME card: what the CP-001 Chakra Card actually is

BANDAI announced the NARUTO CARD GAME in June 2026, alongside a newly drawn key visual, a teaser video and a commemorative illustration with a comment from series creator Masashi Kishimoto. The release date given was summer 2027, worldwide and simultaneous across every region.

On 29 July 2026 came the second wave: trailers showing the first card artwork and a first explanation of the rules. You build a deck around a Leader card, whose colour decides what you can include. A standard deck is 51 cards plus 5 Chakra cards and 1 Summon card. Characters form your front line, Chakra pays for jutsu, Summon cards bring Characters into play, and EX Characters arrive once you meet certain conditions in the match. You win by reducing your rival Leader's Life to zero.

The following day the game had its world debut at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis, running 30 July to 2 August. Attendees of the free tutorial sessions were given a gift set, and inside it was the card that starts everything: the CP-001 Chakra Card, in its Gen Con 2026 version. The set also included a backpack, a sticker and a ticket to buy an official playmat in 2027.

A Chakra card is the game's resource card, the one you spend to activate ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu. Which makes the choice a neat one: the first NARUTO CARD GAME card ever put into circulation is, quite literally, the one that powers everything else.

For collectors, the detail that matters is scarcity. This is a convention giveaway, limited to people who physically sat down at a tutorial table in Indianapolis, printed a full year before anything reaches retail. There is no reprint announced, and no way to buy one at any shop. Every copy that changes hands from here does so on the second-hand market — which is why it is currently the only NARUTO CARD GAME price there is to track.
